I'm confused with my D3400.

On 1", 2" etc.  Shutter opens & closes on time when pressed once.

Bulb: press once to open, press a second time to close.  (So I use a timer for this for stars and I'm good.)

Time: But on Time setting, it acts exactly as Bulb setting.  Press, it opens.  Nothing until I press a 2nd time, it closes.

(On no setting does the shutter stay open while holding the remote pressed, and then closes when remote pressure is released...)

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance.

If you use the shutter button, Bulb will work as it should. With the remote, there is no difference between B and T as it uses the press to open, press again to close sequence to save on battery power.

Not when using the remote. Removing the socket for a normal wired remote is one of the most stupid dumb-downs Nikon have made to the entry-level cameras.
