Hi Folks, cannot make up my mind which way to go with this shot. Hazy Colour or Mono.

what do you think?

I like the B&W shot. Although the colour shot looks a bit HDR'ish but a bit washed out for me.

B&W.

Yeah, i am leaning towards the B&W one myself.  I was not going for an HDR sort of outcome, but was trying to go with a slight hazy look.  Yer right though, does look more washed out.  Don't really think it works.  Will have to revisit the colour version.

Cheers.

I think, that b&w variant looks more flat that color.

I agree with Stas that the B&W looks a bit flat, however, I think the B&W is the picture of my choice.

I don't like the contrast in either shot.  I'm leaning toward the color version.

Hi folks, finally managed to have another look at the colour version.  I think yer all right, it does looked better binning the "hazy" look, that just didn't work.  This one is beter but still not 100% happy with it, but then, does anyone get 100% happy with their shots  ;)

I think its the composition for me , my eye is drawn to the chimney pot at the top of the pic and then there is nothing there

Ok, you have me with that one, not getting what you are meaning at all, can you explain further.

Ta,

The re-edited version is better, though imo just a little over cooked!

Robin, i have to agree with you.  I just cannot get a result that i am fully happy with on this one.  The original shot obviously just wasn't the best so i was struggling from day 1 i think.  It was a shack that i drove past one day so just whipped out the camera and basically took a snapshot rather than setting up properly.  I may have to go back and try again as i hate when pics don,t turn out how you would like.

Ian.

I think possibly a bit looser crop to give more depth from the surrounding property.  Given that this looks almost like a "dust bowl" abandoned farm, perhaps a sepia might work to lend the impression of it being an old photo.  Of the two color shots, I much prefer the 2nd one.  The B&W does work for this though like some have noted already, it is a bit flat.
