I bought a Sony 120GB G series XQD card and got my new Z6 last Friday. It worked fine Saturday during my trip and I took just over 200 pictures without any issue. Got home I got the new XQD card reader and downloaded Z6 firmware update. The firmware updated to version 2.0 which it as eye focus now. Last night I was trying to play with my new toy, it complained about no memory card in the camera. I took the card out and put in card reader on computer. It does not see any problem with the pictures I took last Saturday. I went to the camera store where I bought my new Z6. They put their card in the Camera - it works fine. My question, why my card not recognized by my Camera anymore? Anybody else experience this problem? It could be caused by firmware version 2.0?

Thanks

I updated my Z7 to firmware 2.0 and I have not had any issues with the memory card. Have you tried formatting the memory card on your computer and re-inserting in the camera? If that fails try blowing some air on it like the old NES video game cartridges 6ffb5e7b4eb19bb92995acec763b948e.jpg

After you've safely copied your current images to your computer, try and re-format your card in camera.

I'd recommend reformatting in camera vs. with the computer...

Yes. XQD card - sorry typo on title. Yes. It's 120 GB G series - not 128GB one.

I re-formatted on computer. Insert into Camera - trying to do a re-format in Camera - after a few seconds - it says "Can not access the memory card, please insert another one"

Yes. I did reformat it in computer and insert into Camera still does not recognize the card. Should I try to roll back firmware to version 1.0?

Try that card in another camera?  Perhaps if you can reformat in another camera it will then work in your camera...You know your camera can see cards since you indicated the store's card worked.  That means that it an issue with your card if another card works...the question is if the card will work in a different camera...

Based on B&H Photo website 128GB is discontinued and 120Gb is available for sale.

Went back to the camera store. Tried on different Z6 (with firmware version 1.0), the card can not be recognized and put in a D850 - same thing. The tech guy at the store telling me that certain sectors on the card Nikon just can not read anymore. But somehow it does not affect a card reader to read/write on it. It's an expensive card I bought for Nikon but Nikon does not recognize it.

Cards fail sometimes, that is why there are warranties.
