Sooo ... am going to Africa this summer for the Great Migration, and then trekking with the mountain gorillas. Bringing two bodies (D700 & D750 - almost considering bringing along my old film FM for true B&W). My question: which lenses? Partial list of what I own (all Nikkor AF-S ED VR): 70-200 f/2.8; 70-300 f/4.5-5.6; 24-70 f/2.8; 14-24 f/2.8. Should I bring my wide angle as well? I ask because I tend to be more about the details. I’m going to Morocco first and really don’t want to haul 50lbs of camera equipment. Plus, I’m really intrigued by the idea of also bringing the FM for B&W film pics in Morocco. Open to ideas, suggestions.

Personally, I'd take the 70-200, 24-70, and 14-24. I'd leave the 70-300 home and purchase a matched teleconverter for the 70-200 if you want the extra range. You asked about taking your wide angles... isn't the 14-24 wide enough? Also, as much as I love old film Nikons I would leave the FM home. You can shoot RAW and convert to B&W from those files. Unless you print directly from negatives you will be converting to digital anyway, so why add the extra hassle of lugging an extra body (which will be pretty useless unless you also bring AI-S lenses) and film, etc?

With just those two cameras and three lenses, plus accessories, you're going to have a pretty full bag.

The trinity and the D750 should do it. Imagine that
you will be in a hot and dusty — sometimes hot and
rainy — weather and the gear will turn into a burden,
taking the fun away. Travel light.
