I recently bought a used Nikon Dx 55-300mm VR lens from a pawn shop and when I attached it to my D300 camera the viewfinder is really dark and it cant seem to focus. The camera works perfect with all other lenses and everything is set to auto. The aperture on the lens seems to be stuck at highest aperture because I can see the blades didnt open when attached. When lens is off I can move the aperture switch and seems to be normal resistance compared to others. There is a super tiny dent in metal right next to where aperture switch is and it fits a tad tighter than other lenses but I dont think that would cause issue. The motor seems to work because its constantly trying to focus but can seem to focus on anything so just goes in and out. I cleaned the contacts and no luck also. Any ideas?? I would hate to buy another lens cuz I just bought this one and pawn shop has no return policy.
