This is a BIG Vivitar long manual-focus telephoto zoom, which was probably aimed at press photography, ornithology, etc.It's fairly heavy and seems to be all-metal construction, and is an old trombone-style twist to focus, push and pull to zoom, design.It offers 1.5x macro on 35mm, probably closer to 1x on DX bodies.Download attachment: Vivitar_100-500_001.JPG Download attachment: Vivitar_100-500_002.JPG

I'm very pleased with this lens - I'd previously been using a no-name T-mount 500mm f8 lens on the rare occasions I needed that sort of focal length, this is a huge improvement in image quality and handling; I guesstimated exposure in these pictures, I've since bought a D7000 which will meter with this lens, but haven't had a good reason to use it since I got the body.
