Hi all,

I have been shooting with a Nikon D2Xs for years, and my eyes are getting older, and it's tougher for me to view the small LCD screen images, like I use to.   I have a 10 foot tether cable for the camera, and I am just wondering if there is a SIMPLE program (freeware) out there, that when I snap a photo with my camera and have it tethered to my laptop, that the photo will "pop up" on my computer screen, so I can view it better.   Also, should I have the camera setting set to "mass storage" or "PTP"  in the camera menu?

Thanks for any help.

Which operating system are you using?

I quite like DigicamControl which is freeware for Windows, but your camera isn't listed as supported. Might be worth trying anyway.

Unfortunately there don't seem to be any good free programs for Mac unless I'm missing something - I've been trying to find one for my laptop for ages, but everything I've seen has been slow or unworkable on a fairly old MacBook Pro. I ended up installing Windows as a Bootcamp partition and using DigiCam Control. SofortBild seems to be the closest Mac program similar to DigicamControl, but it's painfully slow.

Annoyingly, Canon's own program is free and works on Mac and PC, but only works for Canon cameras, of course.
