So after having my D850 and 24-70mm F2.8 zoom for almost a month I went into my photos and looked at what focal length I am using. I am shooting 80% of my shots at 24mm. The other 10% of the shots were at 70mm (which is covered by my 70-200) and a mere handful of shots in the 50-68mm range. I think my best choice at this point is to trade the zoom in for a 24mm prime (and get a nifty 50 for backup).

Now I need to make a decision... Nikon 24mm 1.4, Nikon 1.8 or the Sigma 1.4? Any thoughts on which is better? I am actually leaning towards either the 1.8 or the sigma. I don't know that I need the 1.4 at wide angle OFTEN.

One concern I have is that the primes don't have stabilization... but then I wonder if you really need it either at 24mm with a lighter lens that is easier to hold?

I would go for the Nikkor 24/1.8.

I used mine on FX for my one week... challenge the week ending December 4 2016, including some handheld available dark. One week, one camera, one focal length week ending December 4 - Mini-Challenges, Member Contests, and Games - NikonForums.com
