Good morning,

I just bought an AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G and I have some doubt about its performance. I compared it with the 18-55 kit lenses and it seems to be brighter and have a better sharpness for the same setting.

shutter speed: 1/5s

aperture: f/8

Iso:800

I uploaded some pictures to know if you can see clearly a difference that I should request for a lense exchange.

thanks for all!

The brighter and clearer photos are the Kit Lens?  You shot these with the same lights and got that much of a difference.  Hopefully one of the pros will have an answer for you but I'd be questioning the lens too.

Why did you buy a lens that is in the range of your zoom?

My doubts are more on the rigorousness of your skills as
you captured your the shots. I see differences that are not
necessarily attributable to the optics alone.

May I suggest you redo the test and have the zoom as close
as possible to 35mm… making sure you have correct expo-
sure and focus acquisition.

With the new takes, it should be clearer.
