Hi!

I've read Nikon sometimes break 3rd party batteries by firmware upgrades. Is it possible with the D750 to downgrade firmware, does it accepts older firmware files then installed? Is there a place to get the older firmwares? The last version came out few days before breaks any compatibility?

I'am new to Nikon, Pentax never broke compatibility with batteries.

Thanks!

Where have you read this? Sounds ridiculous to me. I can't even see how that is possible. I'm also new to Nikon and a Pentax user with original as well as 3:rd party batteries to booth systems.

As Mike said, there is usually no way to downgrade firmware. Have your current firmware given you problems?

Here is a reference from the past:

Nikon firmware update breaks support for third-party batteries: Digital Photography Review

The EN-EL15 series batteries has data contacts, it communicats with the body (I assume for measuring the charge and health of the battery). So it is possible to brake compatibility in theory.

Sony does this with the III-rd generation a7 cameras:

It starts, but then the battery indicator shows only an error instead of the remaining charge.

Did you tried to install older firmware or you just assume it's not possible?

Well documented issue.

The drawback with 3rd parties is that most recent bodies
will not update firmware unless driven by original batteries.

However, operations are not affected by this restraint.

I have not tried it with Nikon. I just know that it doesn't work with Pentax.
