Hi all,

I've just replaced the broken lens mount on my Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm. Barring the odd dropped screw, the repair process *seemed* to go relatively well.

Unfortunately once I put the lens back on, neither the focus ring or autofocus on the lens work (I've checked all the relevant switches / settings, and it does still work on another lens).

Looking through the viewfinder, the image was also noticeably initially a lot darker - after taking a few test shots again to see if the aperture setting changed the image brightness (it didn't), the viewfinder suddenly brightened (back to normal), with the aperture working again. Then when adjusting the zoom, the viewfinder went dark again.

Does this sound like anything you've encountered? Any tips appreciated!

I have never tried anything like that so here's a repair video.
