Hi everybody, first post.

While going nuts trying to make SnapBridge work with my D7500, I found another issue that worries me more: the top LCD won't go off unless I take the battery out.

Someone had this problem? It's sucking the battery. Tried a full reset, but the camera stays with the "resetting..." text forever and when I finally take the battery out, place it again and power on the camera, all my settings are still there.

Any idea on what's going on?

Thanks!

You're not the first one to report that and the last time no one had an answer for the problem either.

No, talked to the dealer. I'm past the return point, but after a couple of jobs the camera will go to service. If they can fix it, OK, if they don't then they'll have to replace the camera.

What i'm doing as a workaround for the battery drain problem is taking the battery out after powering down, then the Top Panel goes off and everything is, say, normal.

I still can't use SnapBridge, but I wouldn't trust it anyway for serious work, so for now I'm pretending I have a camera that doesn't have wi-fi...

Just an update. Camera finally went to service, I'll update the thread as soon as I get it back with info on either the connectivity problem is solved or not.

Hi

I have exactly the same problem. How did the visit to the service end?

Hello there, exactly the same thing has happened to me too… Did you ever get a fix?

I tried the following fixes but none of them resolved the problem:

1. Using different batteries and SD cards

2. I tried to reset the camera to factory settings - it froze on the reset screen until the battery was taken out and didn’t reset

3. I tried to install the latest firmware - again it froze on the install screen until the battery was taken out and didn’t update

So I decided to send my camera in to Nikon Service Centre for a repair quote, with full details and a copy of this forum post. My camera is out of warranty but I was hopeful that Nikon would recognise the problem was caused by SnapBridge and cover the repair costs. I had the following response:

“Unfortunately, there is no known fault with this model of equipment. If there was then Nikon Corporation would release an Technical Service Advisory and a free of charge repair would be offered to customers. I can confirm that the workshop have not found any signs or damage or misuse with your equipment.”

I contested this, arguing that several others have experienced the same problem and should therefore constitute a known fault. In the end after several email exchanges I was given a small discount on the cost of repair. However I still ended up having to pay well over £100 to fix a problem that originated when using SnapBridge as intended.

My camera has been returned having been fitted with a new Wireless Mobile Adapter PCB Unit and new firmware. The problem has been fixed, but I am very disappointed in the quality of customer service from Nikon. Having been a user of their equipment for 15 years I am now considering switching to a different manufacturer.
