Almost a day and a half since a three foot dump here. Power is back on, but no sign of a snow plow to clear our street (or more accurately, to deposit a 3 foot wall of snow and ice across my freshly shoveled driveway). But one neighbor was "determined": https://scottinpollo.../determined.jpg

Actually, he made one pass down and back and gave up.

My granddaughter at her riding lesson today.  She looks like she's enjoying herself.

My best this week was this one:

The courtyard at the city library, taken 17 minutes before sunrise.

I am not sure if I like it better in monochrome, like this:

What do you think?

I prefer the monochrome. To me it feels "quieter". That probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, but I get more of a tranquil, peaceful feel from the black and white.

I waaaaay prefer the colour version.

I will convert to B&W when colours are not contributing positively
to the viewing pleasure or when the graphic features are well over
the interests of the chrominance.

Here, the colours make this take a spectacular sight.

I think the warm light from the windows and skylights against the cool predawn light in the sky and on the snow creates a visual tension that isn't there in the monochrome.

This shot was composed with the monochrome conversion in mind, I am a little surprised that it works as well as it does in colour.

Me too…!

…but because of the (IMO) negative quality the conversion

brought to the take and did not do any justice to it.
