Hello All,

 

I'm introducing myself to the photography, trying now to learn more and have some fun. For that I'm searching for a reasonable camera for a newbie as me.

 

My main interest are the night shots,timelapses, long exposure. Can you give me some suggestions about the best camera I can get with a budget around 500$?

N50 was called F50 outside the US market. It is an entry-level camera that doesn't even have any way of tripping the shutter remotely. You can use any 35 mm 135 form factor film that has the metal squares for identifying the film speed. I don't remember if you can set the ISO manually, if that is the case you can use any 135 film, even home-loaded cartridges.

As timelapse seems to be a main interest, it would be a good idea to look for a used D7000 upwards body as they have a built-in intervalometer. For night shots, an old D600 or D610 would be even better as the FX sensors show less noise and has a bigger dynamic range when ISO goes up. The FX consumer and prosumer bodies have three-digit model designations as does the D300 and D500. They are all higher in the hierarchy than the D7xxx range.

I can't give an actual model recommendation but I do the kind of photography you are looking to do right now. I can tell you if you are looking to do night photography, or long exposures make sure they the manual settings on the camera easy to access and use. My $500 bridge camera has you access a menu to change the shutter and iso and the controls are very tweaky. Shooting long exposure is not something you do on auto trust me! When you look at a camera make sure you can identify how you set shutter speed and iso before you buy it. If you can look in a store hold the camera and set these a few times.

d5300 is going for about 550 now. that good start body. but no lens thou

I know this is a Nikon forum and the first camera that comes to mind at this cost is a Panasonic - specifically a new G7, which goes for $497.99 with kit lens brand new. It is a micro four third camera and although it has some limitations, they make great cameras. I hope I don't get flamed for this. That being said, if you want to go with Nikon I recommend looking around for reputable shops who might have used cameras in excellent condition and see what they might fetch for.
