Hi All,

My trusty D3100 (50,000 shutter count) has started consistently firing off the flash when not required. This seems to be different to other flash issues people have. Otherwise, it's totally fine.

I suspect a repair would be dearer than a replacement second-hand body, so any help fixing this would be much appreciated.

Alternatively, if the flash could be easily disabled, I’d be happy with that option too as I rarely use it.
  • The flash triggers in all but Auto (No Flash) mode but doesn’t pop up.
  • It can be forced to pop up and works fine with that.
  • The release hook holds it but doesn’t move when the flash button is depressed.

I quite looked forward to converting this to infrared before it died entirely :)

Many thanks for your help.

Simon
