I purchased new back 2011 a D90 kit with 18-105 mm lens and dummies guide specifically for D90. After using, studying the guide. I haven't to date taken a photo that I'm impressed with and saved. It has spent most of its life in a storage box. I recently downloaded an old disc full of photos taken with my first camera, HP M417 5.2 mp that I hadn't viewed since making the disc back in '05. After viewing the photos (outdoor scenery) no wonder I had a budding love of photography. The colours are true to life, rich, vivid. Skies have such depth. A true depiction of real life. Sharpness and detail that I would think the HP is ten times the cost, not the other way around.
Why would my D90 be such a poor performer? Photos are just blah.
Bought a Fujifilm 10MP point and shoot and its nothing to write home about.
