Just finished testing my new Z6 against my d750 and it seems the d750 produces a higher quality image,
mostly because of the high noise level of the Z6. The d750, has lower noise by about 1 & 1/2 stops.

In everything I’ve read about the Z6, no one mentioned anything about the poor noise performance.
Other then that the camera seems pretty good. However for me, higher noise may be a deal breaker
and I may be bringing it back for a refund.
Be well
Bill B. Out....

I will never be a mirrorless user for many reasons but that

experienced noise is surprising… would you post a sample?

Hi,

Attached below are the 2 noise test images I shot comparing the d750 against the Z6.

My test results shows the d750 provides a better quality image.

If you would like to get copies of the raw files, please contact
me directly and I’ll send you a link to my Google Drive page where I’ve
posted them.
I would love to be proved wrong and I’m hoping that perhaps their’s something wrong
with the camera I received and a different Z6 would out do the d750 ( as you would expect).

Hope to hear back from you

Be well

Bill B.

I got the 1600 of both but my actual converter recognises

only the D750 file. I am working on the beta version that
should be released
soon… and will support the "Z" files.

They are both jpgs and the ISO for both is 25,600

So what you are comparing is the NR of the JPEG conversion of the two cameras and not the actual noise present in the sensor data.

Could you share the EXIF for the two captures? The Z6 one looks slightly underexposed, which will affect the s/n ratio negatively, especially at high ISO.

A suspicion at this point…

possibly, a forgotten -EV could explain this.

Hello All,

Happy to report….
The Nikon Z6 I had reported about was/is defective.
I replaced it with a new Z6 and ran the same tests
and the Z6 clearly out performs the d750
in the areas of image quality and low noise at high ISO.
Thanks to those of you who responded.
Bill B.
