Ready meals will not help you learn how to cook!

Presets won't help you through the learning curve

nor promote the development of your artistic intent.

I've also never used any presets in Lightroom except for the ones I crafted myself. I've never used Capture One so I can't compare the two.

… so I can't compare the two.

Right, that was your question and I did not answer it, so I'll try.

Quite a few years back, I had the problem of way too many apps
in the Applications Folder but none was really doing the thing right.

All softwares wanted to grab market shares but none thought of

doing things right. At that point, I had bought into 13 converters of

different approaches… still! :(

Then I was invited to explore another one for a colleague that heard

about it; he wanted my opinion, then and there it happened… BANG!

Yes, I felt clumsy at first because it was so… let's say "new":

  • sliders were scaled the right way
  • no BS functions like vibrance or other toys
  • this tool was developed for pros who understand cooking, fast
    and precise workflows
  • the app was still exploring new avenues in the spirit of cooking
things and not warming up ready meals
  • etc

At a given point, I even bought the worse… OnOne… another toy!  <_<

My report to the colleague after the trial period: OK, THAT'S IT and it

was Capture One 6 or 7 at the time. I always use the session workflow.

All my students are encouraged to explore it on their own and, up to

now, none resisted it.

I am, these days, working on the beta version of v.12 to be published

in a near future I hope. The new stuff is very exciting to me.

This converter and new apps from Affinity got me out of the major
soft
wares producer… finally.
