greetings photog gurus!

i am so glad ur all here!! so, i'm new to Nikon (previous Cannon user) and have a D5100 (LOVE!) that i'll use for videos (but not primarily tho). i want to connect it to my laptop that's running windows 10, so i can use it as an external monitor FOR VIDEO. with the way i'm set up, i really can't see the flip LCD screen on the camera itself because i'm too far away, and i want to be able to see what things look like.

is this possible? if so, how do i do this? do i need special software? i have ViewNX, adobe premiere elements 2018, and audacity software that i'm learning.

if it helps, i'm doing youth empowerment videos for middle schoolers for school youtube channel.

Thanks!
