Hi all

relatively new to my D7500, so excuse the potential newbie question.

I was using this last night indoors, with flash popped up, and noticed that in A mode the aperture was 3.5 (focal length 100mm).

However, with exactly the same framing, focal length, lighting, and flash popped up, in P mode the aperture was 5.6 (and I could not increase it).

This occurred in a number of indoor lighting conditions.

I was wondering why this might be?  And whether it's possible to get the aperture to 3.5?

thank you

A mode allows you to set the aperture.  You set it at 3.5.  In P mode, the camera sets the aperture and it selected 5.6.

I could not have answered that… as I would

not leave any decision taking to the camera!

I don't let the camera decide either, however I know how the other modes function.  There are times they provide value.
