Hello,

I’m new to photography and just made my first purchase of an entry level dslr (D3500).

All I’ve done is watch videos and read for the past 2 weeks. I’m interested in shooting landscape mostly.

Here’s my question;

Is it possible to use a remote on the D3500? I purchased a starter kit that came with an Insignia IR remote. I’m aware that I can use snapbridge to take a picture but was wondering I can use this remote. I have seen plenty of videos showing how to pair with the D3400 and D5300 but nothing about the D3500. I know the D3500 is just an update for the D3400 so I assumed they would transfer this ability, maybe not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe Nikon pulled the IR receiver from the D3500 as they did the accessory terminal from the D3400.

Think your "only" option for remote release is via SnapBridge.

I’m finding this to be the case. I just purchased a D3500 kit. One thing I was hoping to do is take some timed exposures, but looks like I won’t have a way to do this remotely :-(
