Hi

I am using a D810. Since it is quite big and heavy, I am thinking of buying a compact camera. I need one which can shoot raw and preferably has a viewfinder. What is the cheapest (in terms of price and not necessarily quality) that is available as of the beginning of 2017? I've checked several forums but could only find articles that are at least 1 year old. Is there anything available for less than AU$500 (USD 400) with more than 12MP?

Thanks

The Coolpix B700 is a quite nice bridge camera with 20 MP slightly over your budget.

I had the same problems (same camera too). My solution was the Sony RX100. I have the version 3 that I bought new that was far more than your budget. But that was a couple years ago now and you could possibly pick up the RX100iii for about that price.

It's a phenomenal little camera.

And.... I just realised just how old this thread is.

I had a similar weight problem and tried the Nikon Coolpix P7000. It has an incredibly slow Raw process but it does produce great quality pictures.

I purchased a used version but there have been several later models which might bear looking into.
