Hard to say. I am relatively certain some third party lenses will have issues with it just as some older lenses have had issues with newer cameras.

Picking a lens with user upgradeable firmware (via USB dock) would be prudent in this case.

but tamron does not have that and that what 2 lens are and other old promaster 100-400 af lens that i have to keep at 22 since that ring need to be set for it. so not sure if will let me autofocus like d7200 does with that lens. he comes to me for help since i do all research and look at stuff. so i am bigger brother that love to do research and read up on thing to share with others.

Tamron does have a USB console compatible with most Gen 2 lenses.

No one can be certain until folks start testing various models.

Jared Polin showed them working just fine with a Sigma Art lens when he went to the announcement press release. Looks like there will be no issue as with third party lenses working.

If Sigma don't have a problem, Nikon probably haven't added any new tweaks to the communication protocol in the adapter. It is still early days and nobody knows exactly how any combination will work.

There is no focus motor in the adapter, so AF will only work with AF-i, AF-S and AF-P lenses and their equivalents from third-party suppliers.
