Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 16 September 2018, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

Wow!! That's spectacular, Fletch. (Sorry, I can't write your name without thinking of the Chevy Chase movies... ) Where were you shooting from? Looks like you were on the water, yes? The colors and the composition are gorgeous, and that tall ship is everything. Really well done!

Morning Nicole, thanks and it was shot from the shore of Magic Island/Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu HI.  It's called Magic Island as its man made, originally it was supposed to be the site of a hotel.

I have no idea if this will be my best this week, but the light was a bit tricky with a fluorescent household bulb camera left and halogen camera right. The ambient light accentuated the grain in the maple neck blank so well that I didn't want to use strobes.

Model: NIKON D7200

ISO: 100
Aperture: 4.5
Shutter: 1.6

Picture Control: [VI]Vivid

As I am in the phase where I have to make small additions that take a lot of time to think through on the Telemaster build, I am now building a Telecaster from a kit. It will have a maple neck, basswood body and a modern rosewood-substitute for the fretboard. I have just marked out the shape for a slightly elongated No-caster-inspired headstock. The kit nut is an awful piece of plastic and will be replaced during the build.

Not much to choose from this week.  I had to travel for my day job again this week and the weather here has not provided many opportunities for photography since I got home.  I went to the National Park twice this weekend but the fog was so thick I couldn't see 20 feet.  I had to settle for a few wildlife shots from my back porch.  While I was away this week my new-to-me Sigma 500mm f/4 lens arrived.  Here's one of a hummingbird perched on a branch about 50 feet from the camera.  The second shot is cropped from the first.  I'm afraid this is my best this week.
