I have a d3300 and I bought an external lavalier microphone. When I plug it into the microphone jack, the camera doesn't pick it up. Can someone please help me? Here's the link to the Mic I own.

That mic is TRRS, the camera needs a TRS mic. There are adapters, this one is one of the better built. You can, however, record the sound using your new lavalier on a phone or pad and overlay it in post until you get the adapter.
My external microphone stopped working. I think it was damaged as my camera fell over with my external mic plugged in a banged the area where it attaches. Now the external microphone slot won't work and the connection isn't tight.
Any auggestions on to fix it? If I can do such at home?
