Auto Focus Problem

I am using a Nikon D3200 and the auto focus is only working when I use the live view. I have tried 2 different lenses and have gotten the same result. The camera will not auto focus when using the view finder. Manual focusing is the other option that works, but I much prefer to auto focus through the view finder.
Any recommendations or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
