I have a Bamboo and like it. It's definitely on the cheaper end of the scale (under $100 US) but it works well.

Mine is a few years old so maybe the newer ones are improved

Wacom makes good stuff.   I have a couple of the Intuos line, and then a couple of the Cintiq line at work.    For good tablets that won't break the bank, the Bamboo and Intuos lines would be my recommendations.   Just need to figure out which size you want.    I think the Intuos line has a broader range of touch/pressure sensitivity.

The Bamboo and Intuos models are more like digitizers, while the Cintiq's are more of a touch screen monitor.

Wacom just came out with a couple of tablets that run Windows 8 and Android on the devices themselves (an upgrade on the Cintiq line).  They are the Companion and the Companion Hybrid.  (Both are expensive though).

Looking for something that won't break the bank :) I picked up my first tablet this week to try on photoshop and lightroom.

Its a Manhattan, decent size for the price and so far it seems awesome to me just getting used to a pen that doesn't have a string attached to a table hehe :)

I got the Tablet for $69 below is a link to the place I got mine from for all the specs etc

As I mentioned first one i've ever used to I cant tell the nitty gritty of all of its operation but i'm happy with the product its well built and nothing has gone wrong :)

Cheers folks, i have been looking at the Bamboo's and they look good.  I will check out all the others as well.

Stas, i used a tablet and pen for some cnc programming and CAD stuff years ago and liked it.  The more i am using PS Elements i just think it would be a more comfortable tool than a traditional mouse or laptop touch pad.

Yeah, watching a couple just now. Plus, I see you can get a Wacom Bamboo on amazon for 50 quid so that seems ok as well.

HI IanB, i had spent a bit of time on google to see if i could find anything for you in the UK, i found one that had no stock or an eta :( Sorry bud i couldn't help ya out.

I know the wacom tablets are good, they just have that premium price which sorta sucks especially if you would like the extra "drawing space"

Only thing i can suggest is good old eBay, there's always something popping up, just that you usually can't get a physical look on an item before you buy :(

Cheers Warrick, thanks for trying.  The Wacom's do look good but do seem a but more expensive than others, even on the budget side.  I also read on one review that the active pad tied itself to the screen, so top left of pad was top left of screen, not sure if i'm keen on that as the active pads are normally smaller than the screens, well the ones i'm looking at are.

Keeping an eye on some on e-bay just to see how the price on there.  Will get one somewhere that is for sure.  Might even hit the good lady up for a Christmas pressie  ;)

Ian.

Congrats.  I think you will enjoy it.   A little bit of a "learning" curve in getting the hand-eye coordination trained, but it is quick.   (If you haven't used one before).

I did have a little try before it got tucked away for Christmas, just to check it was working ok and i found it quite comfortable but the hovering pen might just take a wee bit of getting used to.

Cant wait.

You can turn off the hovering option.

I had a Bamboo for a couple of years and just upgraded to a medium size Intuos Pro just released.  Love the convenience of the express keys on the tablet.

Wacom hosted a free webinar today on the Bamboo, Intuos, and Cintiq's for photographers. It should be available on their youtube channel in a day or two. They were working mostly in PS5 and 6.

Sometimes an Intuos or the old Graphire can be found used. They have better resolution in the pen than the Bamboo has had, I don't know if the latest bamboos are better, haven't used them. Wacoms are not cheap, but they can be used for a long time.
