Yes, you can set one slot for .NEF and one for JPG.

I like to use the AE-L button for AF start and the shutter half-press for exposure lock. If you then set the AF mode to continuous, you can control the AF independent from the shutter. I have the recording button assigned to ISO as it is easier to find that button than the ISO button without removing the camera from my eye.

For shooting sports and other fast-paced shooting, switch ADL, AutoISO and any other extra processing off to maximize the buffer. Even if the buffer is larger than previous D7xxx bodies, the processor is not as fast as the D500.

If you get the grip, remember to set up the AE-L button on the grip as well (custom setting f10).

I usually get somewhere around 17-1800 shots, but then I seldom use the pop-up flash or Live view and I have image review turned off.

i have flash so will not use one on camera. since one i have is better also found video from  Tony & Chelsea Northrup and Jared Polin tony one was good since gave complete walk threw also show us what he used for some of it. i love Jared Polin D7500 since gave better help on understanding on menu stuff and explained how each one works and what he set up for. where some or many of items said he does not use but does not mean you should try it. its some i do not want to mess or do not need to use. so what ever i said i use or not sure do not use up to you if want to use it. i love this site and thanks for all help. i also have 1 en-el 15 and 3 en-el 15a are 15a batterys okay to use in this body or should stayed 15 ones

As usual with Nikon batteries, using a later revision in an older camera model is ok, but the other way is not recommended.
