So I just snagged a couple of monolights that use this mount for light modifiers. I'd like to build a couple of my own modifiers so I am trying to source some "empty" bases to use as the starting point.

But to my surprise, the internet has let me down. Anyone know where I can get some of these (preferably in the States)?

Is the Phottix S-mount speedring a good enough base for you to build on?

If you search for S-mount speedrings, you will find something that works as a base for DIY modifiers. The cheap ones will probably need modification unless you design the modifier around whatever their engineers have created.

Ahhh... speedring was the term I was missing. The one you linked to is overkill, and ideally I'd like a plastic one to make fabrication easier. I'll keep searching.

Thanks!

LOL! Maybe it is finally time to get a 3D printer.
