D3000 can't detect mounted lens.  the lens is the kit lens, 18-55.  It was working fine since I bought it a year or so ago.  This camera appears as new in every way, in perfect condition.  I left it on the shelf for a few months and the battery went dead.  I took it out and charged up in the charger.  It's a real Nikon battery and charger.

I've done the usual stuff like cleaning the contacts.  The viewfinder comes up fine except for displaying an error claiming there's no lens installed.

Any bright ideas?

Tom
