:D

Thanks, y'all!

It's a used lens in amazing condition, but it's new to me. Nikon lists in the Archived product line now since it has been succeeded by the VRII, hence the different box than what Nikon is currently packaging their products in.

I can't wait to get out and use it!

Nice...enjoy it...I've spent lots of time with both the one you have and the VRII...it looks like a beast, but you can hand hold it pretty easily.  If I don't have a larger lens running, I do shoot it off a monopod for some extra steadiness.  I sure wish I was opening a box with a new lens in it!  Oh well, hopefully soon!

Realy huge lens. Have you already try to work with it? Is it comfortable?

The 70-200 isn't tiny, but you can definitely hand hold it.

The reason it's so big is that it's a 2.8 all the way through all it's focal length.

The 70-200 isn't tiny, but you can definitely hand hold it.

I have fairly big paws anyway, so it works out nicely for me.  Where I hold the lens in order to reach the the zoom ring is right at the balance point of the lens and camera, so it makes the setup very easy to manipulate/control/use.

The reason it's so big is that it's a 2.8 all the way through all it's focal length.

And also because all of the lens functions are internal.   On my 55-300 when you zoom, the lens physically changes length as the "tube" extends or withdraws.   All of the that function takes place internally on the 70-200, so the lens maintains that constant length on the exterior.

Haha I know that feeling... I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas as I wait for my Samyangs lenses to be delivered. :)

Sounds like a great lens. Definitely one I'll look at adding to my Kit in the future.

Now buy a sling strap (eg. BlackRapid), makes carrying it all day a breeze!
