Is a 16gb cf card too much for the D100? It will format but the camera still says card cannot be used. The newspaper I work for requires jpegs. Does it matter whether it is used for raw or jpeg? Please help.

AngieW, are you formatting the card in your computer or in the camera?, If the former, try the latter instead.

It sounds like you are saying that you formatted it in-camera but it still did not work. If so, 16GB may be too much.

I was reading this thread (Flickr: Discussing Maximum size memory card for the D100 in Nikon D100 User Group) over on Flickr, and the best info I can take away from it is that up to 4GB works OK, but maybe anything over that may or may not. And that seems to be with v2.0.

Whether they are JPEG or RAW should make no difference, so use JPEG if that is what's required.

Hello AngieW,

In case you have not found a solution to your problem, I have had very good luck by going to Nikon directly.  Here is their Link.  www.Nikon.usa.com.  Find their tech support dept., then send them your issue and they will respond within a reasonable amount of time.  I have never been charged for their assistance.  Hope this helps.  Tony
