Tonight the smokey setting sun was gorgeous looking south over Mount Shasta, California, and Venus was the brightest I have ever seen it. Was shocked to see how clear the planet showed up in the photos! It was a stunning view and I couldn't resist grabbing the camera and tripod and driving up the road for a better view and some long exposure shots. OH....and the lighting on the weeds in front.....the headlights from the car.

That looks like a beautiful sky and nice lighting, but why is the pic so pixelated?

Well.....now that I think about it, I still had my camera set on Small JPEG Image Quality for some camera-to-printer experimenting I was doing the night before. Totally forget about that when I went to take these pics! Crap! I'm going to try and do this shot again very soon. Venus is pretty bright right now.

Why does everyone live someplace cool but me?

Nice shot. I like the headlights on the grass but I hate it when I forget that I've changed some weird setting.

Thanks! I plan to do the same shot any day now as soon as it's clear enough. Been nasty weather lately.

I think we all have beauty around us no matter where we live! I challenge you, Rontography, to take a pic today of something beautiful, small or large, where you live. In fact, I might just make that a forum challenge. Thanks for the idea!

I live in a very beautiful place. I would not leave it for anything, but I do get jealous when I see mountains and beaches.
