I found this review but for Nikon the reviews were not the the best. I am open to other brands to fit my NikinD7200

The newer Tamron 90 with VR is very good, so is the Tokina 100 and the Sigma 105. The current MicroNikkor 105 is one of the few Nikkors I have had and sold as both the 105/2.8 Ai and the 105/4 of any version suit my needs better. I tend to use the 105/4 Ai'd the most for botanicals.

On the D7200:

I had the Sigma and it was very good optically, but found it clumsy. The Tokina is one of the gold standards, but Tamron has been hitting it out of the park lately (I have a couple of lenses in their new lineup and have been thrilled with them).
So I would go with the Tamron (VC, internal focusing, TAP console, weather sealed, full time manual focus override, 6 year warranty and 3 day service)... great optically with all the bells and whistles!

Both taken in hi sunlight. The white flower was between buildings and the sun was poking through. I have lots to lean but fun goes with learning in this case.

Question,
How close should I be able to get to the flower or subject. It seems I can no longer get very close for I just get a blurry picture. Even at 5 feet away. When I first got the lens two feet away I still have a crisp picture

Have you, by any chance, managed to activate the focus limiter that sits on the side of the lens? When in the full focus range, the minimum focus distance should be 11.8". The MFD is the distance from the subject to the focal plane in the body.
Yes I did. Discussed with B & H this morning. WoW talk about service. It is five days beyound my 30 day no questions asked policy. After a couple questions from B & H I had a return slip. They are sending me out a new lens. Pretty good service if you ask me.
