D800 Sensor

I'm new, sorry if this has been answered somewhere...just couldn't find it.  My sensor is shot after about three years of use (D800) is the only option to have Nikon fix this?  When I sent it to them with a problem...they first quoted $350.00.  Then it went up to $1,000.00 siting a "bad sensor"  I ended up buying a used D800 at the camera store...wondering what my options are to fix the old one...?
