Is it possible that it is an SB-900?
Does the flash trigger at all?
What position is the switch in? When using the speedlight on-camera it should be in the on position, not slave or master.
To check that the flash tube is OK, set the speedlight to manual and full power. This should overexpose considerably if your subject is reasonably close.
Another thing worth checking is if it works as a slave flash. Set the same channel and group on flash and body, set the pop-up flash to master and the speedlight to slave. If this works, there is something wrong with the communication in the hotshoe on either body or flash.

I use my camera in manual mode, no special setting, not going above 1/250 shutter speed
It trigger normally but the photo is super dark
I tried to reset both, use different modes
I saw people other people complaining about it, and looks like it’s hardware issue

Did you do the tests Peter suggested? I agree with him on performing those tests.
Not sure why others would complain about your flash nor how you have decided that it is a hardware issue...
