What an exciting variety of photos this week! I am always so impressed with the caliber of work by members of these forums.
bill, awesome detail--love that you captured the gore so well. Was this a 150–600mm lens? And hand held you say??!! That is fantastic--I've given up on using my 150–600 without a tripod--need to get a monopod. And heaven forbid I try wildlife or anything else moving. Wonderful work.
Jerry, I love those portraits. These guys are serious about their cosplay, eh? Wow. You caught some intensity of expression along with all the great detail. The light was very cooperative too--it looks bright enough to be midday but not at all as harsh as I'd expect at that time. Anyway, that must have been a fun event to shoot!
Peter, what a wonderful, candid expression you captured—your subject appears to be a kind, warm person. You've reminded me that I really enjoy the 105 for portraits...but I rarely use it for that purpose. I must ponder why that is and remedy the situation. That colorful bokeh makes a lovely background.
Colin B, you aren't kidding about that being a postcard-style shot! That koala couldn't have posed more perfectly for you. Glad you were able to get off a shot as quickly as you did--nice work!
deano, what a great set. The skyline at night is my absolute favorite--so well done! Diablo is intriguing too--good choice to keep that vivid blue. So how tall would you say that statue is? That could be fun to shoot at night with the eyes all lit up, especially if there is a little bit of ambient light to give some detail to the body...
I somehow ended up having a lot of work this week--did a family portrait session early in the week and then quite a bit of real estate photography over the last couple of days. I shot three very different properties--a single family home, an office/retail building, and a tiny home (which I made look too big with my 14mm, ha ha!). Kind of bizarre. It's not my specialty at all, but it was fun. I'm thinking I might make an effort to learn how to do it for real...
Anyhow, here's an HDR shot of the single family home--it was custom built by a timber framer, and he and his wife have decided to sell it.

D810, Nikkor 24-70mm @24mm. HDR composite of three bracketed shots. Too lazy to go get the setting for each shot...heh. Used a tripod, of course.
