The trigger is a simple flash popper, no iTTL when used off-camera. If you feel that you need TTL metering with flash or the ability to control the flash output remotely, look elsewhere.

No second curtain sync means that things will look strange if you want to use a long exposure combined with a flash.

Very cheap speedlights with iTTL support tend to have very variable quality. Good samples work, but the not so good ones are very unreliable.

Normally, a flash is synchronized to the first curtain. When you do a long exposure, the flash will go off at the beginning of the exposure and if something moves, that ghostly movement will move through where the sharp, flashexposed image was. This looks unnatural. If the movement ends with the sharp image, things looks more natural. To achieve this, better flash units have something called second curtain sync. This means that the flash won't fire until milliseconds before the shutter closes instead of just as it opens. If you search the web for "second curtain sync tutorial", you will find lots of free videos and articles that explain how it looks and how to use it. It is a very good technique to know and use, but this flash you are looking at doesn't support it.

As a flash beginner, I would rather pay a bit more for one of the Chinese name brands like Yongnuo or Godox as they are much easier to master. If you stumble upon a used Nikon SB-600, SB-700, SB-800 or SB-900, they are all dependable workhorses, but a TTL capable Yongnuo or Godox are better value for your money.

I know this is a little more but it is a much, much better speed light. It's a better speed light than all of those Peter mentioned. Plus there is a massive online community should you ever need any help.

I am not going to list features, because there is nothing missing at all. Ever single feature know for speedlights is in this. On top of that you have a Li-On battery that lasts forever and recycles faster than AA's.

edit: I have 3 of these plus a number of other Godox lights.

I was just looking for the price because I never remember what they are, so thought I'd share the link while I was there.
