Im a beginner to digital hense the post location. I bought a D70 as a digital photo starter.

When bought, the camera was demoed, but the seller kept the card from the camera.

I bought a Sandisk Ultra 16gb 50mb card .I confirmed the volume in a card reader, placed it in the camera and formatted it as suggested. When turned on, the top display flashes "CHA". I put it in a card reader and it shows a 2gb volume ?

This was a new card out of the package. I read what I could about card types, brands, sizes, etc.

I did'nt find anything that led me to believe that I did anything wrong.

For the short term I borrowed a 512 meg card from a canon and have no problem with it.

If anyone has a suggestion or solution for this issue , thanks in advance.

I believe the D70 is old enough that it can't support the 16GB card...That's probably why you ended up with a 2GB volume...

The D70 should support FAT32. I don't understand why it has formatted the card with FAT16. Format it using FAT32 in the card reader and try if it works.
