Hello everyone, I bought a Nikon D810 a few days ago on eBay. Every time I buy an item on eBay, I get extremely paranoid about that my item is a replica, no matter how well the reviews are (ex. 98-100% rating with xx,xxx reviewers).

Anyway, as a "paranoid" buyer 😂, I realized that the model is an import model (after reading the description numerous of times after purchase). What is an import model and what are the disadvantages of it? I know I should've done my research of what an import model is, but what's done is done.

Here is the price I paid for:

Item: Nikon D810 - with 24-120mm lens

Price: $2800

Retail price: $3300

Item is still in processing and have messaged the seller about requesting a cancellation and refund in case it is a bad thing.

Am I screwed because it is an import model?

Here is the eBay listing..: Nikon D810 36.3 MP DSLR Camera with AF-S ED VR 24-120mm Lens - Black for sale online | eBay

Sorry to sound like a newbie..

-Thanks

Import models come with no warranty, but cost less up front.  That's the trade-off.  It's the same product meant for sale in a different region, or being sold by an unauthorized outlet.

Not only no warranty, no service from Nikon either (even if you choose to pay for it).

I read you may be able to get support for grey 810 on your dime. If that is the case I would have no issue buying

Support is one thing...Nikon support / service is another thing...I am sure there are places that will repair but I have heard exactly what Scott says...Nikon won't touch gray market - no warranty but no paid work either...

What Scott said. Nikon USA will not touch a Gray Market camera or lens. No matter how much money you throw at them.
