Trying to shoot dark object in low light. LCD screen and picture show object with brightened areas That does not exist on object.

I think that just means the camera thinks those areas will be underexposed.

Is it the underexposure warning you see or is it something else? Please show us what you mean. If you can tell us what the light sources are and how they were placed, as well as exposure data, it might be easier to understand what has happened.
