I’ve had a a few Nikon outfits over the years, I’ve never really loved their cameras but they always get the job done and there are loads of good second-hand lenses to be had at reasonable prices.
My current outfit comprises a D850, 70-200mm F2.8E FL and 58m f1.4G. It is, without doubt, the best camera outfit I’ve ever had. The D850 is still a worthy contender for best camera all round ever made.
However, the general COVID-related economic downturn (and the recent demise of my car, which was only worth 10% of what the camera outfit is worth - well, priorities and all that…) means it’s going on eBay. But what to replace it with? Not another DSLR, nothing would even be remotely acceptable after that outfit and the same, broadly, goes for the larger-bodied MILC systems. No ‘all round’ camera was going to be comparable.
To cut a long story short, I decided I needed something that wasn’t trying to do everything. Something that had a good excuse for being bad at some things. Something quirky!
Well I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I came up with an answer - I’ve bought a lightly used Sigma FP! A friend of mine won one in a competition, tried it, didn’t really get on with it and sold it to me for a decent price. It came with a 45mm f2.8 Sigma DG DN lens and a 20-60mm LUMIX zoom.
I’ve had it two days, first impressions to follow soon…

I'm sorry to learn about your recent down-turn of events, Dogbytes. Even without your D850, or a Nikon in general, I do hope you'll stick around here, I like your work.
