If you own a Nikon mirrorless APS-C body (Z 50 or Z fc), you know that, so far, Nikon has yet to release any prime lenses specifically for these bodies. Their latest lens map update finally includes a future 26mm but the "when" is not known. Meanwhile, there are several 3rd party manual focus APS-C Z mount lenses available.

Recently, Viltrox has offered three prime auto focus APS-C Z mounts lenses - 23mm, 33mm & 56mm - all specified at f1.4. In 35mm equivalent terms, the lenses are essentially 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. After watching several YouTube reviews, I decided to try the 23mm version for my Z 50. The lens arrived yesterday afternoon so I haven't taken a lot of shots with it yet. It is all metal including the lens hood. It's not as small or light as the NIKKOR Z 16-50mm f3.5-6.3 kit lens but it is compact and feels comfortably balanced on the Z 50. As advertised, it has an manual aperture ring that can be used if desired.

Here's the lens.

Here is an image straight out of the camera with no post processing applied. So far I like what I've seen.
