I have a Nikon Z6 ii which I bought online.  When I look through the EVF and press the shutter half way to autofocus, a series of large red boxes flicker around the screen as the camera focus adjusts.  Is there any way to hide these red boxes/switch them off as they give me a headache.
Nikon support gave me one idea but it didn't work.  I have had Nikon cameras since 2007 and not come across this problem before.  Thanks.

You are probably in the automatic AF-area mode for the autofocus. To get it to behave more like what you are used to from the DSLR-s, press the i button on the back of your camera, then the cryptic pictogram with something in square brackets (upper right in the standard menu). Now, you can select the area mode you want to use. Single point or Dynamic area resemble the modes in a DSLR closest.
