My laptop died a few months ago and Nikon's old free editing software (that I was used to) seems to be discontinued or about to be a pay-for option. The new NX Studio looks like it may be more efficient - when I figure it out!  Anyone played around with it yet? It may mimic the more commonly used editing software. It feels backwards from the way their other program was set up.

I need a crash course on steps for keeping files neat & backed up from the minute you slip the SD card out of the camera!

Dell/Windows version :)

View NX-i and Capture NX-D are still current and free. Nikon | Download center | NX Studio The by now very old Capture NX 2 has always had a license that you have to pay for.

I have played around a bit with NX Studio, but I am much more familiar with Capture NX-D so I work faster that way.

I use Photo Mechanic for ingestion, culling, keywording and other DAM activities and basic backup. On ingestion, a copy of all raw files go to an external drive that is backed up with Time machine daily, as well as the weekly TM backup of the internal disk. The external drive is synchronised with a copy on iCloud more or less in real time. Something similar could probably be set up on a Windows box, but I have been a Mac user since the System 7 days. Photo Mechanic costs a bit, but it is a very good application.

Hi There, I've got an issue with NX Studio. I downloaded it today and it installed on my iMac (2017 27", Big Sur 11.6) no issue. I edited one photo without any issues and was starting to really enjoy it. Then when I went to edit my next image, it opened and then went completely white. I tried selecting other images, but same issue. I'm using a Z7 with NEF RAW files. Any advice would be appreciated.
