Hey guys, how are you all?

I've been looking to get a tele lens for my Nikon FM2n. I know that the 85mm f1.4 Ai-s and the 105mm 2.5 Ai-s are the legendary lenses in this category, but I'm thinking on getting more versatility with a zoom, like the 80-200 f4 Ai-s.

I really like taking portraits but i'm trying to start taking more landscapes and thinking on taking the lens with me next summer.

Any of you have any thoughts on this lens or recommend me another one?

Thank you guys,
Sabino

I used to have one but I never bonded with it.

I like its older cousin better, the 80-200/4.5 pre-Ai, •C version. Mine is Ai'd with a factory kit.

Here are some samples from it...

I also had the 80~200/4, prefer the 80~200/4.5. The latter uses 52mm filters, the F4 version uses 62mm filters.

The 80~200/4.5 used to sell in the $750 range when new. These days, $50 gets you a nice one. I have the 80~200/4.5 Zoom-Nikkor-C with the factory Ai conversion, and also have the late 80~200/4.5 Ai. The last version can be identified by the rectangular light baffle at the rear of the lens. Both are great, I can't tell a difference using them on my Df.
