Nikon announced that it will be moving production facilities to Thailand. The reason cited was labor costs.

Corporate decisions and plans are penible at times.
But the good point is it's not to China — nothing against
the chinese people but all against the CCP!

The rumours seem solid, but R&D will stay at the Sendai facility according to the same rumours.
The Japanese industry is now in the same situation as the western world was in the 60-s and 70-s when the Japanese underbid everyone else.

Thailand better than China, machines lathes, mills, made in Thailand are a better made.
So may not be a bad thing.
