Hello Ladies and gentlemen! Hope everyone is safe and healthy

I’d like to express myself one more time about the New Z mount
Maybe some of you understand or laugh 😂 ai don’t mind

Last February I rent a Nikon z6 mk1 for 2 weeks and I enjoy every single click like it was my first camera.
I was surprised by the silent shutter, in body stabilization and real time exposure on the viewfinder! But the most important was the raw files out of the camera 🙊they looked so detailed and smooth at the same time, even in the worst case situations the z6 kept sending perfect organic real life colors.

My only complaint was the SLOW autofocus and the mirror blackout ! I’m a SPOILED Nikon D500 user

Wildlife:Autofocus BIF dark scenes busy background
Nah Nikon,nope,no bueno
moving objects??!! I don’t think so!!!
sorry Nikon I am better with fully manual focus and your lovely focus picking software.

Long story short I returned the z6 and I kept thinking that I’d be more than happy to stay with my d500 but...
After a month I wasn’t feel that good 🤷🏻

I felt empty without the need to go out and take pictures like before
I stay inside for months wondering what’s going on with my life
I was all over the place blaming this pandemic
I’ve tried to get the best from my D500 but it wasn’t the same

Unfortunately I was depressed, the z6 put my soul & body into a bed 🛌 of pain

After a year I start to feel better , the z6ii is coming with dual processors and I start dreaming for a faster autofocus!
I feel the BUTTERFLIES 🦋 bouncing inside my stomach
Please Nikon, I’m beginning you🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Got my self a third job again and looking forward for the z6ii and the 600$ superb 50mm 1,8 S lens

And that’s what’s up.Thank you for everything my beautiful people

I have a few thoughts on the new Z2 cameras...

Bear with me... the only Z cameras I've touched were at Best Buy (big box retailer) and one of those was broken. I had to ask a sales person for a battery in order to try out the second one.

The vewfinder was lovely... almost worth buying just for that. Focus peeking is something I think I could get used to in a hurry.

The AF seemed awful slow in the store and would often lock on something behind what I was aiming for. I attributed that to my ineptitude in using the camera and perhaps the fairly low light inside the store. Still, it seemed like it should have been better. Since that experience I've read others complain about AF performance with both the Z6 and Z7 cameras so clearly something is amiss there. I wasn't put off too much by the lack of a second card slot (at least not compared to the crowds on the internet who wanted to tar and feather Nikon on this point). The lack of a vertical grip was a bit more troubling to me although I figured that, if necessary, I could get used to it.

Anyway, I decided not to reach for my wallet and wait for something better. So, naturally I was curious about the new versions. And, of course, we'll have to wait until reviewers get their grubby little hands on them before we'll know if all of the shortcomings have been addressed.

But, one thing ... these "new" cameras seem mainly designed to quell the bad press over omissions in the original designs. That is, the lack of a second card slot and the vertical grip. Nikon has also added a second chip which will hopefully improve AF performance but in Nikon's announcement AF performance is only mentioned as being "improved." And that point is not a prominent part of the announcement as a whole. I think that if the improvement were significant, it would be touted more.

So, I donno. Wait and see.

BTW... I'm only talking still photography here. Since I don't make movies, I usually gloss over the specs on that. I do understand that both cameras have been significantly improved in that area.

While there are things about mirrorless cameras I like and consider a great improvement, but until they get a battery in them that lasts at least double what they do now, I won't even think about laying out cash for one.  I look back and think of the current  ''Z'' series as the old D1 and D2's.  They're infants in the growth of the species.  Have I heard something of a Z9 being leaked?

The other thing Is you can charge the battery while the camera is on via usb with an external battery bank
All you need is one battery for 2 days

I agree about the battery situation. I imagine that EVF with all those fancy fireworks going on inside has a lot to do with it. Mirrorless cameras are the most "fly by wire" cameras we've ever seen. Imagine how much more drain they'd have if they were equipped with screw drive AF motors for those old lenses. I'm convinced that part of the reason for the new vertical grip has to do with battery drain management.

One of the reasons I didn't pull the trigger on Z cameras to start with had to do with that old computer user maxim about skipping version 1 of anything. I had hoped (yeah, I know... it was silly of me) that version two might be improved enough to take for a spin. I'm sorta, kinda in the mood to upgrade and Nikon seems to be putting most of their eggs in the Z basket. Still, we have a new user who's just taken delivery of a D6 and I envy her so hard! LOL

So, I donno.

The actual pic limit on a battery with the Z cameras is much higher.

I do a lot of early and late day shots, which includes Lots of HDR shots.  With the rear screen off, I've had over 500 shots and still plenty of capacity in the battery.  I think the rating is worse case scenario.

the new option of being able to charge while shooting is a biggie.  I have a large cell phone recharge pack that can be connected if needed while set up on tripod at night.

The only battery change I've done is during 2 weddings which each had about 1200 shots.  I went through 2 batteries.

600 average is better than the specs I've read so far.
