Today I was chatting with some people who claim they are familiar with the ways of Nikon. From what they have informed me is that Nikon has seriously changed the way it does business. For example, now there is only one authorized service center in the state of New Jersey. Nikon appears to no longer support more and more models including the amazing D700.
Also, having to send an item in for repairs to Nikon can and does take a very, very long time and the expense can be cost
prohibitive and of course Nikon does not pay for shipping at all. These folks seem to fear that Nikon may be going in the direction of Olympus Corporation by selling off their photographic equipment operations and focusing mainly on their scientific division products such as electron microscopes, etc.
I also expressed my interest in upgrading to a D750 or even the possibility of a D850 and I could not believe the look of surprise and shock on their faces. They proceeded to tell me that these models are not what they are cracked up to be and that I should be considering looking elsewhere for a serious upgrade. Thnx for reading.
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these pandemic ruled times.
Kind regards,
Tony
