Hey guys,

Yesterday I took my uncle's "new" 70-200mm f2.8E FL ED VR with my F100, shot a couple of photos with it at f2.8. When I was going to change the aperture rotating the dial it didn't change.

Afraid it was something with the camera I've started with changing lenses and with my 50Mm f1.8G everything was alright.

Switched back to the 70-200mm and the same earlier problem happened. Switched the shutter speed and aperture dials and the aperture was still at f2.8

Is that any incompatibility between the F100 and this last 70-200mm model?

Thanks :D

Forget to say that with my D750 the 70-200mm works just perfect

Edit:

Went to Ken Rockwell's page and under the Compatibility tab of the 70-200mm it says that the E lenses only are able to shoot at f2.8 with DSLRs/SLRs prior to 2007

Thanks guys! :D

This lens has an electronic aperture and doesn't work with the F100

A quick rundown, just to make it easier for users who stumble upon this thread in the future.

E means that the lens uses an electronic activation of the the aperture (as opposed to mechanical).

You need a D3100 or later, D5000 or later, D7000 or later, Df, D3s, D4, D4s, D5, D300s, D500, D600, D610, D700, D750, D800, or D810 or later body to get full compatibility with an E lens.

Ken Rockwell's cutoff date of 2007 is dangerous as the D3 and D300 comes in under the wire using that definition, which is not the case. I think the D700 was the first introduced of the E-compatible bodies. The date of the D700 canĀ“t be taken as a starting point as the D90, which doesn't support E-lenses, came into production a month later if I remember correctly.
